India’s New Plastic Waste Management Rules Effective from July 1, 2022
The products affected include earbuds with plastic sticks, plastic sticks for balloons, and plastic flags among others.
Plastic packaging waste shall now be collected and managed in an environmentally sustainable way through an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) of the producer, importer, and brand owner.
The single-use plastic ban will be closely monitored by the Central and State pollution control boards. The directives have been issued at the national, state, and local government levels that prohibit the supply of raw materials to industries that deal in these banned items.
